Christ the King Academy encourages parents and guardians to be as involved with the school as possible. One of the ways to do this is join us on: October 4 at 7pm for our General Parent Council Meeting. This forum gives those involved the opportunity to represent all parents/guardians regarding any ways they wish to contribute to ideas and planning for school activities. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school at 403-362-4767.
Let's meet some new CTK staff members! My name is Logan Cruikshank. I have a fondness for history, theology, philosophy, construction, art, and cooking. I was part of the Canadian contingent that went to Virginia to celebrate America’s one hundred years of scouting. In grade 4 I got to participate in the national Historica fair in Saskatoon; and most recently I went to Poland in 2018 with my sister to celebrate their one hundred years as a nation again. I enjoy fine dining but not the price at high end restaurants, which brought me into the world of cooking. Currently my favorite styles of cuisine are French and Italian. I have always enjoyed building things with a variety of mediums and would say I have a mind for constructing. I try to live up to my ideal of what makes a gentleman. That is nicely dressed, well-mannered with an emphasis on respect above all, an appreciation for the highlights of culture (fine clothing, dining, orchestra, drama), knowledgeable but always seeking to learn more, and capable. I try to see the best in people and give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. As a student in K-12 school I was not a high achieving student; C’s and D’s were my typical grades with the highest being a B- in Social Studies. However, this changed drastically when I got into university where A’s became my norm. From this history I can relate to those students who struggle and try to find solutions for them to achieve their highest potential.
Let's meet some new CTK staff members! Grade 7 My name is Jeylyn Sarmiento and I am very excited to be joining Christ the King Academy teaching Grade 6 and 7 Science this school year! I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Mb where I attended Catholic schools from grades K-12. I moved to Lethbridge to attend the University of Lethbridge where I obtained my Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors and going camping, hiking, and paddle boarding. In addition to my passion for science, I have always been very passionate about sports as well and have competed on volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, track & field and dragon boat teams throughout my schooling. I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know the students and families of CTK and know it’s going to be a great year!
Let's meet some new CTK Staff members! Grade 6 My name is Philip Bird. I’m new to Christ the King Academy and to teaching Grade 6. I previously taught in Calgary Catholic for eight years as a jr. high ELA teacher. I am excited to teach a homeroom this year! My family include Mrs. Violet Bird, who is teaching at HFA, three kids, one dog, one cat, and one parrot. In the summer, we travel to BC to go gold panning, adventuring, and visiting family. I love coffee, reading, and video games. We are Ukrainian Catholic and love to sing.
Let's meet some new CTK staff members! Grade 6 Hello Everyone! My name is Tanelle Cockerill and I was born and raised in Brooks, AB. Last year in January I began my teaching career at HFA, taking over a temporary grade 3 position! This year I am so excited to be welcomed back to the Christ the Redeemer School Division, as a teacher at Christ the King Academy teaching a homeroom grade 6 class, as well as grade 7 PE. Teaching in the CTR school division is very special to me because growing up I attended HFA and graduated from SJC in 2013. In 2017 I graduated with Distinction from the University of Lethbridge, with a BSc in Kinesiology and in 2021 I received my After Degree in Education with great distinction. In my spare time I enjoy running, wakeboarding, playing board games, and skiing. I am very blessed to get to work with an amazing staff and am looking forward to getting to know the students and their families.
